TRUCK FRAME DAMAGE: SAGS, SIDE SWAYS, TWISTS AND DIAMONDS
Truck Frame Sag Damage:
Occurs when a truck’s frame is bent downward. Often results from overloading the vehicle.
Truck Frame Side-Sway Damage:
Occurs when a truck’s frame is visibly bent to the side. When viewed from the top, the frame damage is curved like a banana, and the front wheels no longer track with the rear. The degree of misalignment varies significantly with impact. Usually the result of a side-swipe accident or from frequent unequal load hauls.
Truck Frame Twist Damage:
Occurs when one chassis rail end is higher or lower than the other. Often results from accident. Front-end abuse from snowplowing is also a common cause.
Truck Frame Diamond Damage:
Occurs when one chassis rail of a truck is displaced in front of or behind the other. Generally, diamond displacement includes collateral damages of bent cross members and bent upper coupler supports.
