Coil Springs

  • » Tired of suspension chaos when towing the family trailer?
  • » Worried about rear spring breakage from hauling those heavier loads?
  • » Fed up with sagging ride height from a factory suspension that no longer meets your needs?

Finding the correct balance of “spring” in a motor vehicle has always meant job security for motor vehicle engineers, who aim to control bounce from overtaking your seat. The trouble is, your vehicle’s suspension was not necessarily designed to fit your changing needs. When you do haul heavier loads, you feel out of control and unstable on the road.

Can I have it both ways? Comfort and flexibility in my suspension?

Yes, you can! Contact us at Vancouver Axle for air spring conversions in Surrey, BC! We carry PacBrake Air Suspension Kits which are unsurpassed in performance. We also offer upgrades with Timbren Suspension Kits which help absorb road shock and automatically adjust to uneven loads and road conditions.

Facts about springs

  • Springs are at the core of your suspension and carry the weight of your vehicle.
  • Springs keep your vehicle at its proper height, provide stability, and cushion you against bumps and dips in the road.
  • Springs keep your vehicle’s weight off the tires.

Types of air springs

Air springs are typically a rubber container of air situated between the frame and axle of your vehicle. The combination of elasticity from the rubber and the compression of the air absorb axle movements and wheel vibrations.
Torsion bars are springs found usually in trucks and SUVs, located at the front of the vehicle. Torsion bars twist to allow for differences in payload. They reduce the up-and-down movement of a wheel.

Coil springs resemble old bed springs. They can be found at both the front and rear of a vehicle. Coil springs also help cushion bumps, vibrations, and steering movement.

Leaf springs are typically used to attach the rear axles of larger vehicles and trucks. The leaves consist of thin metal plates piled on top of each other. Piled leaves guard against breakage, as opposed to one metal bar, which would break if bent too far. Leaves have this flexibility since they can slide on one another.
